This is one of the most common questions I receive from investors, and the answer may surprise you.
Many investors assume that purchasing through a company is automatically the smarter option. That's not always the case.
In fact, I've discussed this topic on The Dubai Connect™ Podcast with accountants, attorneys, and tax professionals, and one of the biggest takeaways is that a company structure can sometimes create additional complexity that may not be necessary for every investor.
The right ownership structure depends on your goals, your tax situation, your estate planning objectives, and the size of your portfolio. For many investors purchasing their first Dubai property, personal ownership may be the simplest approach. For others, a company structure may make sense depending on their specific circumstances.
It's also important to understand that the UAE has evolved significantly over the years. Today there are corporate tax considerations, compliance requirements, accounting obligations, and reporting requirements that investors should understand before establishing a company structure.
One of the biggest mistakes investors make is assuming that an LLC or company automatically provides an advantage. Sometimes it does. Sometimes it doesn't. That's why I always encourage investors to discuss ownership structure with qualified legal and tax professionals before purchasing rather than trying to restructure later.
The smartest investors don't just ask what to buy. They ask what ownership structure best supports their long-term goals.
GG’s perspective
Many Americans assume they need a company because of how litigious the U.S. is. Whether that's the right approach depends on your goals, which is why I cover this topic with experts on The Dubai Connect.
